We use what you tell us about your household to plan your week and run Less4Food, and nothing else. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and there are no tracking cookies. Card details stay with Stripe.

This explains what Aria Fathifard, doing business as Less4Food ("Less4Food", "we", "us") keeps, why, who helps us run the service, how long we keep it, and how you can see, change or delete it. Less4Food is for households in the United States. Write to aria@less4food.com with any questions.

1. What we keep

  • Your account: your email address. Sign-in is run by Clerk, so we never see a password. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email and profile picture with Clerk; we keep only your email.
  • Your household: your ZIP code; how many adults and children (numbers only, never names or ages); your weekly grocery budget; your diet, allergies and food rules (for example vegetarian, gluten-free, halal or kosher); whether you pay with SNAP/EBT or WIC; any notes you write; your stores; which meals you want planned; your staples; what's already in your kitchen and which spices you're missing; and whether you want the weekly email.
  • Your weeks: the meals and recipes we plan, your swaps, the deals you star, your cart, what you tick off in the store, and any amounts you type in from a receipt.
  • Pro: if you choose Pro, a Stripe customer number, your plan's status and the dates of your current month. You type your card and billing address into Stripe's own page; they never reach us.
  • ZIP lookups: which ZIP codes people look up, without who looked them up, so we know where to read flyers.
  • Ordinary web logs: our host keeps request logs, such as your IP address and browser, to run and protect the site.
  • What you send us: emails you write to us, so we can answer them.

Allergies and gluten can say something about your health, food rules about your faith, and SNAP/EBT or WIC about your income. We use them only to plan your meals and build your cart.

Our Consumer health data page says more about allergies and other health details.

2. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your information or share it for targeted advertising, and we haven't in the past 12 months: not to stores, not to advertisers, not to data brokers.
  • We don't show ads and don't use ad pixels. Stores don't pay to be shown.
  • We don't share your cart with a store unless you ask us to.

3. How we use it

To plan your meals around this week's deals, build your cart, check every meal against your allergies and diet, show what each deal saves, send the weekly email if you asked for it, send notes about your account and Pro billing, run Pro billing, answer you when you write, keep the service working and safe from abuse, keep the records the law requires (such as tax records), and decide which ZIP codes to read flyers for.

4. Who helps us

These companies process information for us, only to run Less4Food. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Clerk: sign-in. Holds your email and sign-in sessions, and, if you use Google, the name and picture Google shares.
  • Neon: our database, in the United States (east).
  • Vercel: hosting, in the United States (east), including request logs.
  • Google (Gemini): plans meals and writes recipes. It receives the details a plan needs: how many people, your budget, diet, allergies, food rules, your notes, what's in your kitchen, the deals near you and the meals already planned. Never your email or name. We use Google's paid Gemini service, whose terms say Google doesn't use what we send to improve its products. Google keeps it for a limited time to catch abuse, and may process it outside the United States.
  • Stripe: Pro billing and sales tax. Receives your email; your card and billing address, which you type into its own page; and, if you choose to say when you cancel, what made you stop.
  • Resend: sends our emails. Receives your email address and the email itself (for example your meals and savings).
  • Sentry: reports when something in Less4Food breaks, so we can fix it: what went wrong and where, without your name, email or address.
  • Where deals come from: to read flyers, we send Flipp and Kroger a ZIP code, never who it's for. Deal pictures load straight from the stores' and flyer services' image servers, which, like any website, see your IP address and browser.

We don't run product analytics. If we add it, it will stay off unless you turn it on, and we'll update this page first.

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Less4Food. If Less4Food changes hands, this policy keeps applying to what we hold.

5. Cookies

  • Sign-in cookies from Clerk, which keep you signed in.
  • Two of ours, which remember the ZIP you looked at and up to three deals you starred before signing up, for seven days, and are removed when you finish setup.

No advertising or tracking cookies. Because we don't sell or share your information, there's nothing for a "Do Not Sell or Share" choice or a Global Privacy Control signal to turn off; if that ever changes, we'll honor them.

Your browser also keeps a few things on your phone or computer, never sent to anyone else: your setup answers until your first plan starts, the recipe steps you ticked, Shop mode's ticks and prices until they reach us, and which notices you put off for the visit.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and household for as long as you have an account. You can change your household any time on the Household page. To delete your account, open Household and tap Delete account. That deletes your household, its plans and carts, your starred deals and your sign-in right away, and stops Pro billing. Our records of how much AI we used keep their counts but lose any link to you. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days, our hosting, email and crash-report services keep their logs for a limited time, and Stripe keeps its record of any payment, as the law requires. You can also write to aria@less4food.com from your account's address, and we'll delete it within 30 days. Every weekly email has a one-tap way to stop them, and you can turn them back on under Household.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, for a copy, to correct it, or to delete it. You can change most of it yourself on the Household page, and delete all of it with Delete account. For anything else, write to aria@less4food.com; we answer within 30 days. We check that a request comes from you, usually by replying to your account's email address, and someone you name in writing can ask for you. Asking never changes how we treat you. If we turn a request down, we'll say why; reply to ask us to look again, and if you still disagree you can contact your state's attorney general. Some state laws, like California's, give their residents these rights; we give them to everyone.

8. Children

Less4Food is for adults planning for their household; you must be 18 or older to make an account. We don't knowingly collect information from children. For children in your household we keep only how many there are. If you think a child has given us information, write to aria@less4food.com and we'll delete it.

9. Security

Everything travels over HTTPS, and your data is stored with the providers above. Only the people who run Less4Food can reach it. No service can promise perfect security; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

10. Changes

If we change this in a way that matters to you, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. We won't use information we already hold in a new way without asking you first.
